Strategy, Creative Direction, Film + Photo Production
New Monster led the strategy, creative direction, and production behind John Hardy's rebrand. The luxury jewelry market is crowded, and most brands are saying the same things: handcrafted, sustainable, culturally rooted. John Hardy actually delivers on all three, and has since it was founded in Bali in 1975. The problem wasn't the product. It was that nobody outside the brand knew the full story.
We built the rebrand around one idea: Craft as Ritual. It ties together the brand's Balinese roots, the multigenerational families of craftsmen who make every piece, and the process behind the jewelry itself. That idea ran through everything we made, brand films, social content, and product photography, so the same four attributes (craftsmanship, culture, sustainability, and a distinct aesthetic) showed up in every execution.
Once the new identity was in place, we focused on getting it in front of the right audience: younger, affluent luxury shoppers. We built new consumer profiles and a new media strategy from scratch, choosing diverse casting and smart placement over celebrity. The campaign launched with over 20 million impressions across major streaming platforms, plus a Condé Nast partnership that included Forces of Fashion and a spread in the September Issue. We backed that up with an always-on social strategy, wild postings during New York Fashion Week, and OOH aimed at luxury travelers. In total, the rebrand produced over 800 pieces of seasonal content, all built around one clear message and a brand identity that finally matched the brand.
